Children Of Men - Oh, man!

Easily the best of 2006. I'll be making my top 10 of 2006 list soon, there's still a few flicks I need to see, but Children Of Men is far & away the best I've seen from last year. Simply amazing.

My new script, UNION, is still holding together great, and it's been a blast to write.

Also, look for my interview with Gordy Hoffman, founder of the kick-ass BlueCat Screenplay Competition. I'll be posting it soon.

Children of Men was the best film I saw last year too. The single-shot scenes were absolutely breathtaking.

How the HELL did they do it? It was astounding.

I believe I read in an interview about the long shot in the car - which is scary as hell - and from what I could gather they built a rig for the actors to move around as the camera moved around (inside the car, no less)and the actors had to hit marks inside the car. I'm still not sure how it was done but the director jokingly wanted to patent the trick so it wouldn't be stolen and overused.

Also, they'd rehearse the scenes for days and then just let it go.

The more I think about the film the more I want to watch it again. The car chase with sandals is just great.

The car scene was simply incredible. Exhilarating filmmaking.

There's quite a few uninterrupted shots that were a thing of beauty, the ones that stick out were in the school (with Clive Owen & the Nurse chatting - not very technical but I'm a fan of long takes) and toward the end (you know the one).

And yes, it must be seen again, in the theater.

Best film in years.

Just saw it tonight. Quite good. Still in deep ponder...

Yes it was good...and technically mindblowing. Like you, still marveling at so many of the scenes (yes those 'what appeared to be' one takers...I'm still not sure but they were seamless)

I agree. Great story and great direction. Probably the best dystopian future ever. Plausible and scary as hell.
